My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I do not recommend reading Aesop cover to cover like a regular novel. This book is better to be read in small sittings. Reading it in long sittings makes it extremely boring and repetitive.
The rest of this review pertains to the Kindle edition I read. This edition needs some editorial corrections. The last line of a few of the fables were turned into titles. One of the fables including the title was put into the previous fable. The title line actually became a line like the normal font.
After finally reaching the last fable and reading through a little of Aesop's history, I find myself staring at a preface. Yes, the preface is in the BACK of the book where I no longer have the motivation to continue. I am one of those people who absolutely cannot leave a book unfinished, so I worked my way through the preface.
In the preface, there are quotes from an Aesop imitator. Unfortunately, the quotes are all in Latin with no translation of said Latin anywhere. I didn't even have the motivation to use Google Translate to find out what the quotes actually meant. I ended up skimming the preface. I really just wanted the never ending book to end.
I read this book as part of the PopSugar Reading Challenge 2018 - An allegory.
